Ok yes you’ll all scoff- at the reactionary feminist adulation of the one and only Hillary Rodham Clinton- the great political priestess of our time.
Yeah we know she’s a politician- with all the amoral wiles and manoeverings that are a politicians tool of trade. But there is something about Senator Rodham that gets me very excited (umm not that kind of excited:)
I don’t know if it’s her experience in child advocacy and women’s rights, her brilliant lawyering skills or just her kickass Yale days- (As Bill said in his autobiography -when he first saw her in their in Civil and Political rights class he was floored- just mesmerised by this intense looking girl with glasses and no-makeup. He was too scared to approach her. Then one day they’re at the library and she walks up and puts her hand out- ‘Well if you keep staring at me around campus,’ she said ’we might as well know each other’s name- mine’s Hillary Rodham… ’)
Anyway, so Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has just been re-elected for a second term in New York, capitalising on the widespread antipathy against the war in Iraq.Â
And the opponent that criticised her looks as a campaign tactic- suggesting Hillary got plastic surgery- well he’s just eating dust now.Â
Senator Clinton is positioned in a good place for a Democratic Presidential candidate nomination for 2008. By then President Bush would have already served two terms- so the election will be an even playing ground between two never-been Presidents. Â
How very very exciting…Â
Also very historical- the first Muslim elected to US Congress and the first woman elected to lead the US house…Woo hoo!!
